Here we have a beautiful example of why the Case XX Hawbaker special knives are some of the most collected knives there are. Stanley Hawbaker, a trapper and hunter had these knives made for his business and decided to call them the “Hawbaker Special”. Here we have a RARE 3 dot main blade with a 7 dot Hawbaker blade. There were many different patterns of these knives with different tang stamps or “transition models” as collectors call them. Both blades have excellent walk and talk for the age of the knife. This knife features the “Case” shield with nickel silver bolsters, pins and liners with beautiful bone handles. This would be a great addition for any collector of the vintage Case knives. There is a pin crack on the front handle below the center pin, that’s the only thing keeping this from being a mint knife. This is a great buy folks, you do not want to miss out on this beautiful piece of cutlery history. BONE WARNING NOTE: Bone is a natural material prone to cracking. Therefore, some knives may have cracks near the pins or bolsters. Will be noted if cracks are visible.
Description

The blades are a California clip with a long Sheepsfoot. Tang stamps read “Case XX USA” with 3 dots on the main blade and “Case XX USA” with 7 dots on the secondary blade, and etched on the main blade “Improved Muskrat Knife” and “Hawbaker’s Special” on the secondary blade. Due to the natural state of bone, handles may have a hairline fracture at either the pins, shield or spring pins.
